Call Her Second-Chance Rose; Funds Needed For Pets' Medical Care

For the first time in her short life, 6-month-old Rose is learning what it's like to have a full tummy, caring touch and relief from pain.

TAMPA, FL — She's only 6 months old but Rose has already experienced a lifetime of suffering.

The puppy was rescued by the Humane Society of Tampa Bay from the streets of College Hill in Tampa where she was found begging for scraps of food.

Her skin was cracked and oozing with infection due to a severe case of Demodex Mange. The pain was evident in her large, brown eyes.

"Sweet Rose, a prisoner in her own body, was discarded and left to die," Sherry Silk, executive director of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, posted on the society's Facebook page. "When the world turns its back on animals like Rose, we are here to save them."

But Silk said their work isn't possible without the community's help.

Thanks to donations from the community, Rose not only has a warm bed and plenty of food, but she is getting the help she needs to treat her skin condition. For the first time in her short life, she's learning what it's like to have a full tummy, caring touch and relief from pain.

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay depends on donations to provide medical care for Rose and other pets like Zinnia, a 4-week-old kitten that came to the Humane Society with severe lacerations on her chest and rear leg.

Due to her extensive wounds, Zinnia requires round-the-clock care for several weeks.

Anyone willing to help Rose, Zinnia and the other #GivingTuesday animals in need of special care can donate on the Humane Society of Tampa Bay's Facebook page.
