Cash Stolen in Papa John's Burglary on Kennedy Boulevard

The incident was reported to the Tampa Police Department.

A Papa John's Pizza was burglarized earlier this week, with thieves getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The incident at 3425 W. Kennedy Boulevard was reported to the Tampa Police Department on Tuesday.

Here's what happened, according to a TPD report:

Someone entered the business by prying open a steel door in the back of the business after cutting the phone lines. In addition, the battery backup for the alarm in the manager's office was disabled. Then, the suspect cut into a floor safe and took money.

The alarm company was contacted, but had no record of the alarm being activated for entry. The store has a motion-activated camera system, but the camera by the back door was tilted upward by the suspect.

Authorities are in the process of viewing video from an apartment nearby with exterior cameras.
