City Of Tampa To Distribute $2,000 Checks To Impacted Businesses

TAMPA, FL — As part of the city of Tampa’s "Relief Now, Rise Together" efforts, the city of Tampa plans to help approximately 400 small businesses (100 per council district) that previously didn’t qualify for aid.

The city of Tampa plans to spend another $1.2 million to help small businesses that previously didn’t qualify for aid. While businesses must be located in the city of Tampa city limits, the previously required geographic zone parameters for Phase I and II are not applicable in Phase III. Phase III will start with businesses that were disqualified during Phase I or II but still in need of financial assistance.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our community, and we realize that right now they’re struggling alongside so many,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “That’s why we’re making another substantial investment into our community through our One Tampa efforts which include many generous donations from those across our great city. While this year may have taken an unprecedented turn, we will get through this, like we always do, together.”

The city will deliver $2,000 checks directly to “critically-impacted” businesses to help them with business expenses. Critically impacted businesses are businesses that had to close or experience a significant reduction in revenue over the past few months due to the coronavirus.
