A St. Petersburg woman traveling across the Howard Frankland Bridge was hit by a piece of debris that crashed through a car windshield

A 65-year-old St. Petersburg woman traveling across the Howard Frankland Bridge on Tuesday morning was hit by a piece of debris that crashed through the windshield of a car, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. The woman, who was a passenger in the car, was identified as Margaret Musto and is listed in critical condition at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Troopers said a car driven by Glenn Musto, 62, was traveling north on I-275 near the bridge's hump about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday when his vehicle ran over a piece of metal in the roadway. The metal struck the vehicle's hood before flying into the car's windshield, hitting his passenger Margaret Musto. Glenn Musto, who was not injured, was able to pull to the shoulder of the bridge, according to highway patrol.
