Derek Jeter's Mansion Sells For $22.5M, Tampa's Most Expensive

Smith & Associates announced that the 21,796-square-foot mansion has sold for $22.5 million, the most expensive home ever sold in Tampa.

TAMPA, FL — If you were all prepared to meet Derek Jeter's $29 million asking price for his mansion on Davis Islands, you're too late.

Smith & Associates Real Estate announced that the 21,796-square-foot mansion has sold for $22.5 million, the most expensive home ever sold in Tampa.

The former New York Yankees shortstop and his wife, Hannah, spent years constructing the mansion, which was completed in 2011. They'd barely settled in when they moved to Coconut Grove in Miami three years ago after Jeter became the CEO and co-owner of the Miami Marlins.

The couple put the seven-bedroom, 16-bath mansion on the market but agreed to rent it out to longtime friend Tom Brady and his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, after Brady signed a deal to become quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in February 2020.

The Brady family, including children Benjamin and Vivian, lived in the mansion dubbed St. Jetersburg while searching for a permanent home. Since then, the Brady's reportedly purchased a home in Miami for $17 million and another in Clearwater, also for $17 million. At the same time, they sold their home in Brookline, Massachusetts, for $32.5 million and a high-rise apartment in New York City for $37 million.

Jeter's former estate located on a 1.25-acre Davis Islands waterfront property surrounded by a high wall is the largest mansion in South Tampa.

"This is the most impressive home to ever hit the market in the Tampa Bay area," said listing agent Stephen Gay of Smith & Associates Real Estate.

Constructed of hand-carved Connecticut granite and limestone, the mansion has a massive portico entryway leading to solid wood double doors. The architect and designer recruited local craftsmen to create the solid hardwood millwork, hand-polished Venetian plaster, tailored silk draperies and marble mosaic tiles.

The estate is also outfitted with state-of-the-art home automation that controls almost every aspect of the home including the security, lighting, window treatments, climate and entertainment systems.

Additionally, the home features almost 9,000 square feet of outdoor covered porches and balconies, a dock with two boat lifts, bubbling fountains, a heated spa, an 80-foot saltwater lap pool, a professional guy, a wine cellar, a movie theater and an air-conditioned six-car garage.

There's no word on who purchased St. Jetersburg.
