Dusty Rhodes Passes Away at 69
Known as 'The American Dream,' the wrestling legend died Thursday in Florida.

Virgil Runnels, better known as wrestling’s Dusty Rhodes, died Thursday at the age of 69.
Runnels’ death was announced by World Wrestling Entertainment on its website.
The organization noted that Rhodes, who wrestled under the moniker “The American Dream,” was a WWE Hall of Famer and a three-time NWA Champion.

“Runnels became a hero to fans around the world thanks to his work ethic, his impassioned interviews and his indomitable spirit,” the announcement stated.
Runnels shot to wrestling fame in the 1970s, traveling the Florida circuits.

Runnels made his home in Orlando.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, he suffered a fall on Wednesday and died Thursday at home.
No cause of death has been released.
