Freedom Alliance Honors Tampa Veteran with Vacation

Organization offers assistance to wounded soldiers and their families.

TAMPA, FL – Medically retired U.S. Army 1st Lt. Larry Campbell of Tampa recently took part in a Heroes Vacation in Costa Rica provided by Freedom Alliance.

Campbell was injured by an improvised explosive device in December 2005 while serving in Iraq.

Freedom Alliance is a charitable organization that provides help and support to wounded troops and military families. The group has awarded more than $10 million in college scholarships to the children of military personnel killed or disabled in the line of duty. Freedom Alliance has also spent millions providing care packages for deployed troops, mortgage-free homes and all-terrain wheelchairs.

Another of Freedom Alliance’s programs, Heroes Vacations like the one Campbell took part in, provides injured veterans and military families with outdoor recreational therapy trips.

The organization hosted the all-expense-paid trip for Campbell and 15 other veterans from across the country. The fourth annual adventure took place April 11-16 at the Los Suenos Resort and Marina in Costa Rica, which is designed to assist in veterans’ recovery from combat-related injuries.

Los Suenos encompasses a private 600-acre rainforest reserve, an 18-hole championship golf course, a full-service marina, spa and more. The trip featured a crocodile safari, a zip line canopy tour, a golf clinic and deep-sea fishing.
