Genghis Grill, Osaka Express Cited By Health Inspectors
Ice buildup in walk-in cooler and raw food held at unsafe temperatures are a few of the violations found in Hillsborough County restaurants.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL —Ice buildup in walk-in cooler, raw food held at unsafe temperatures, and improperly stored coffee filters are some of the violations that Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found recently in Tampa restaurants.
Eagles Golf Club, 16101 Nine Eagles Dr, Odessa, was cited for 23 violations on April 5, including cases of chicken and ribs stored on floor in walk-in cooler; interior of oven with heavy accumulation of black substance/grease/food debris; walk-in cooler shelves with rust; sliced cheese held at unsafe temperatures.
Great American Cookie Pretzelmaker, 2223 N West Shore Blvd Ste 230A, was cited for 11 violations on April 5, including water leaking from pipe and/or faucet/handle; single-use gloves left on a food-contact surface; accumulation of food debris/grease on hot cheese machines; and no paper towels or mechanical hand drying device provided at handwash sink.

Earl Of Sandwich, 2223 N Westshore Blvd FC206, was cited for seven violations on April 5, including reach-in cooler not maintained in good repair (thermometer reading 53 degrees); stop sale issued on potentially hazardous food due to temperature abuse; and coffee filters not stored in a protected manner to prevent contamination.
Genghis Grill Mongolian Stir Fry, 910 Providence Road, Brandon, was cited for eight violations on April 5, including ice buildup in walk-in cooler; raw chicken, shrimp and bean sprouts held at unsafe temperatures; and food stored on floor in walk in cooler.

Osaka Express, 18855 Sr 54, Lutz, was cited for 22 violations on April 4, including a buildup of grease/dust/debris on hood filters; raw fish stored over sauces in reach-in cooler; white granulated substance found on cook line; and raw eggs stored behind ready to eat food.
In the last 30 days, 120 Hillsborough County restaurants did not pass the first inspection while 286 restaurants aced the first visit. For more details on Hillsborough County restaurant inspections, click here.
The inspectors made note of 13 Tampa restaurants that passed inspections during the past week without any violations: Kairos Kingpletas, 7730 Palm River Road; Chipotle Mexican Grill #2170, 2223 N Westshore Blvd.; Caros Kitchen, 5224 S Dale Mabry Hwy; El Cayuelo, 6701 W Clifton St; Arepa Express, 7611 / 7613 East Causeway Blvd; El Foguncito Mexican Taco, 4201 N Armenia Ave Ste A; Rack City Ribz, 6614 Clair Shore Drive, Apollo Beach; Mcalister's Deli, 4410 Boy Scout Blvd Suite 150; Jersey Mike's Subs, 103 N Westland Ave.; Impact Food Services, 5224 S Dale Mabry Hwy; Dancing Dog Cart, 2123 W Main St; The Noshery Cafe, 6403 Harney Road; and Kiwami Ramen & Sushi, 10262 Causeway Blvd.
Note: Most of the restaurants with violations have corrected those violations and passed subsequent inspections.
