Get Ready For Some Delays Due To Repair, Construction In Tampa

Drivers can expects delays in Tampa as road projects get underway.

TAMPA, FL — Due to more extensive repairs needed to complete the work, North 15th Street will remain closed between East 25thAvenue and East 27th Avenue while the Tampa Water Department makes repairs after an earlier water main break.

Barricades and signs are located in the area to assist with traffic flow.

The completion of the work with a return to normal traffic patterns is now expected by 5 p.m. Monday, contingent upon weather conditions.

East Sligh Avenue

Starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 19, all lanes on East Sligh Avenue between North 54th and North 56th Streets are closing while department crew begin repairs on wastewater infrastructure in the area.

Channelside Drive

A portion of Channelside Drive between Water Street (formerly Old Water Street) and East Cumberland Avenue, Beneficial Drive/South Meridian Avenue between Knights Run Avenue and East Cumberland Avenue and Water Street between South Morgan Street and Channelside Drive will close beginning Monday for road construction.

A city contractor will be installing a signal pole and mast arms at the intersection of Channelside Drive and Beneficial Drive/South Meridian Avenue. The work will be completed in two phases.

During Phase 1, the contractor will be installing the signal pole and two mast arms on the northeast corner of Channelside Drive and South Meridian Avenue. The northbound lanes on South Meridian Avenue between Channelside Drive and East Cumberland Avenue will close at 11 p.m. on April 19.

In addition, the southbound left turn lane on South Meridian Avenue between East Cumberland Avenue and Channelside Drive will close at 11 p.m. on April 19.

Once the northbound mast arm is installed the contractor will open the northbound lanes on South Meridian Avenue.

At approximately 3 am on Tuesday, April 20, the contractor will then close Channelside Drive between Beneficial Drive/South Meridian Avenue and East Cumberland Avenue to install the eastbound mast arm.

Sidewalks within the work area will be closed. Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area at all times during construction.

All lanes on Channelside Drive and South Meridian Avenue will reopen to traffic by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, weather permitting.

During Phase 2, the contractor will be installing a signal pole and one mast arm on the northwest corner of Channelside Drive and South Meridian Avenue. Channelside Drive between Water Street and Beneficial Drive/South Meridian Avenue, Water Street between South Morgan Street and Channelside Drive, one southbound lane on South Meridian Avenue between East Cumberland Avenue and Channelside Drive and the northbound left turn lane on Beneficial Drive between Knights Run Avenue and Channelside Drive will close at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20.

All lanes on Channelside Drive, Water Street and Beneficial Drive/South Meridian Avenue will reopen to traffic by 5 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, weather permitting.

The city of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid congestion.

A portion of Channelside Drive between South Florida Avenue and South Morgan Street, South Morgan Street between East Brorein Street and Channelside Drive and the Selmon Expressway Eastbound Exit 6B Channelside Drive/South Morgan Street off ramp will close for one night on Sunday, April 18, for road construction.

A contractor will install signal pole mast arms on the northwest corner of Channelside Drive and South Morgan Street.

One lane on Channelside Drive between South Florida Avenue and South Morgan Street, one southbound lane on South Morgan Street between East Brorein Street and Channelside Drive and the Selmon Expressway Eastbound Exit 6B Channelside Drive/South Morgan Street off ramp will close at 11 p.m. on Monday.

Two lanes on Channelside Drive between South Florida Avenue and South Morgan Street, one southbound lane on South Morgan Street between East Brorein Street and Channelside Drive and the Selmon Expressway Eastbound Exit 6A Florida Avenue off ramp will be maintained during construction, with delays.

All lanes on Channelside Drive between South Florida Avenue and South Morgan Street, South Morgan Street between East Brorein Street and Channelside Drive and the Selmon Expressway Eastbound Exit 6B Channelside Drive/South Morgan Street off ramp will be open to traffic by 5 a.m. on Monday, April 19, weather permitting.

The city recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
