TAMPA, FL — A global nonprofit based in Tampa is using the opportunity to support the businesses that make its hometown thrive. Lions Eye Institute for Transplant & Research is transforming its Sept. 12 annual gala into an interactive online experience that will feature local small businesses to help lift the local economy.

The gala will continue to build awareness of its work for the blind and visually impaired as the annual Eye Ball Gala becomes the 2020 iBall: Foresight – Looking Toward the Future. When participants register for the event, they will receive a #LiftUpLocal Experience Box featuring curated items from Tampa Bay local businesses, including The Blind Tiger Cafe, Hidden Springs Ale Works, Blue Sage Eco Boutique and more.

“As we navigate this new world, the virtual gala allows our foundation to continue to spread the word of our mission while keeping our supporters safe,” said Ali St. Cyr, chairwoman of the foundation board of the Lions Eye Institute. “We are a global organization, but we are rooted here in the Tampa Bay community, and we want to make sure we do our part to support local businesses any way that we can.”
