Good Samaritans Help Rescue Woman After Jeep Lands On Top Of Her

Witnesses helped Tampa police rescue a woman after the Jeep she was riding in was struck by a stolen vehicle and flipped over on top of her.

TAMPA, FL — Witnesses helped Tampa police rescue a woman after the Jeep she was riding in was struck by a stolen vehicle and flipped over on top of her.

Just before 4 p.m. Monday, Tampa police spotted a stolen 2013 gray Hyundai Genesis being driven by a juvenile on East 26th Avenue. When the juvenile spotted the police, he sped away in the car. Police did not pursue him.

The youth ran a stop sign and struck a 2005 Jeep Liberty at the intersection of East 26th Avenue and North 28th Street, causing it to flip over. The youth then ran away from the scene.

The Jeep was occupied by a woman driver, woman passenger and a young child. The woman passenger was ejected and the overturned Jeep landed on top of her.

Tampa Police were joined by good Samaritans from the community who helped free the woman driver and child from the Jeep. They then lifted the Jeep off the woman passenger who was taken to the hospital with injuries that aren't serious. The woman driver and child were uninjured.

Additional Tampa police attempted to find the juvenile who fled the scene but have not been able to locate him.
