Great Catch, Nueva Cantina, Westshore Pizza Cited By Inspectors

Cooked meats held at unsafe temperatures and a cooler soiled with food residue are some of the violations found in Tampa restaurants.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – Cooked meats held at unsafe temperatures, a cooler soiled with food residue, and equipment in poor repair are some of the violations that Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found last week in Hillsborough County restaurants.

Westshore Pizza, 10309 Causeway Blvd., Tampa, was cited for seven violations on Feb. 21, including kitchen wall stained/soiled in various locations; accumulation of food debris/grease on interior of reach-in cooler pizza line; and food manager certification expired.

Nueva Cantina, 4918 S Macdill Ave, Tampa, was cited for 14 violations on Feb. 21, including interior of reach-in cooler soiled with food residue; cutting board stained/soiled; orange juice stored next to ground beef and below pork; and no paper towels or mechanical hand drying device provided at handwash sink.

Great Catch, 1930 Land O' Lakes Blvd Ste 18/19, Lutz, was cited for 10 violations on Feb. 20, including soiled reach-in cooler gaskets; food stored on floor; and rice, ribs sauce and cooked potatoes prepared onsite, held more than 24 hours and not properly date marked.

Muvico Centro Ybor 20, 1600 E 8th Avenue Suite A200, Tampa, was cited for eight violations on Feb. 19, including equipment in poor repair; light shield damaged/in disrepair; worn, torn and/or soiled floors; and cooked meats held at unsafe temperatures.

In the last 21 days, 115 Hillsborough County restaurants did not pass the first inspection while 320 restaurants aced the first visit.

Inspectors made note of eight Tampa restaurants that passed inspections this month without any violations: Wicked Wiches, 509 N Franklin St; Tropical Smoothie Cafe, 6708 Memorial Hwy; Tims Hot Dog & Sandwich's, 1931 W Cypress St #1-2; Mareks Kielbasa & Pierogi, 3224 W Tampa Bay Blvd.; Jackson's Banquet Room, 601 S Harbour Island Blvd.; Market On 7th, 1816 E 7 Ave.; Event Concepts & Catering, 5831-B Memorial Hwy; Mudd Catering, 5831 Memorial Hwy Ste B; and Nature's Cafe And Pantry, 5831 Memorial Hwy Ste A.

Note: Most of the restaurants with violations corrected the violations and have passed subsequent inspections.
