Hearing Set Tuesday On Median Modifications To Kennedy Boulevard

A virtual public hearing will take place Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. for proposed median modifications along Kennedy Boulevard.

TAMPA, FL — The Florida Department of Transportation is hosting a virtual public hearing Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. for proposed median modifications along Kennedy Boulevard from West Shore Boulevard to Woodlynne Avenue in Tampa.

The modifications are being undertaken to improve safety, especially for pedestrians.

Improvements throughout the corridor include widening and repairing sidewalks, upgrading highway lighting, adjusting traffic signal timing, closing some medians and extending turn lanes at others.

The design is underway. Construction is expected to begin in 2021.

To allow for maximum participation, the public hearing will be held in three formats including virtually over the internet, by phone or at an in-person drive-thru location. Information presented will be identical at all options.

This public hearing is being conducted to allow affected property and business owners and other residents an opportunity to comment on the proposed modifications.

Median modifications are proposed to take place at the following intersections:

Medians are proposed to be closed at Renellie Drive, Cooper Place, Lauber Way, Krental Avenue, Hale Avenue, Beverly Avenue, Bradford Avenue.

Medians are proposed to be modified to provide left turns from Kennedy Boulevard to Hesperides Street, Clark Avenue, Grady Avenue, Sterling Avenue.
