HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Hillsborough Area Regional Transit has launched Flamingo Fares, a way to pay bus fares without digging into a purse or pocket for cash.

Bus riders can pay Flamingo Fares from their cell phones or a smart card by setting up an account by downloading the Flamingo Fares app.

In addition to providing contactless payments, bus riders can earn a free ride once they reach the cap for a daily or monthly pass.

The system allows bus riders to automatically reload their accounts and balance protection is provided in case a smart card is lost or stolen.

Additionally, Flamingo Fares can be used for the TECO Line Streetcar System and to ride the bus in Hernando, Pasco, Pinellas and Sarasota counties, including the Jolley Trolley in Pinellas County.
