Journey Announces Their 2020 Tour With The Pretenders: Tickets

TAMPA, FL — It's sure to be a night of memories as Journey and The Pretenders perform at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater, get tickets now to see these two bands on Aug. 21, 2020. The anticipated North American tour begins in Ridgefield on May 12 with a finale show in Bethel on Sept. 12.

Journey started in 1973 as a rock band from San Francisco but it was the release of their album “Escape” in 1981 that brought them the most fame with multiple hits. “Don’t Stop Believin’” climbed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart to the number 9 spot and as been called the perfect rock song.

Throughout the years the band has loved performing live, taking their music on the road and winning the Legend of Live Award in 2011 at the Billboard Touring Conference. Current band members include singer Arnel Pineda, bassist Ross Valory, Neal Schon on lead guitar, Jonathan Cain on keyboards, and Steve Smith playing the drums.

Joining on the tour as co-headliners are The Pretenders, with the strong vocals of Chrissie Hynde leading the band through fan favorites. Billed as rock performers, The Pretenders also play a blend of punk, pop, and new wave music, highlighting the versatility and song writing talents of Hynde.

Cain from Journey says he’s excited to be on tour with Hynde — “I mean, she is ageless, kind of like [Heart‘s] Ann Wilson. You hear her and think, yeah, still sounds like the record.”

Expect the concert to be a trip down memory lane, with Journey playing classic hits such as “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” and “Open Arms.” The Pretenders will add their own hits to the night with “Don’t Get Me Wrong” and “I’ll Stand By You.”
