Lightning Game, $5 Museum Days and Skipper's Celebration

Here's a few things to know this weekend.

Witness a Florida Ice Battle: The action on the ice heats up as the Tampa Bay Lightning takes on the Florida Panthers during a home preseason game this Saturday, Sept. 21. Tickets for the Sunshine State showdown are still available. Visit the Lightning’s website for all the details.

Celebrate 33 Years of Skipper’s Music: Skipper’s Smokehouse in North Tampa is pulling out all the stops for its 33rd birthday party Sept. 21. Twelve bands will play on the Skipper’s stage starting at noon and running through midnight. Acts include 6 Volt Rodeo, Daniel B. Marshall, The Applebutter Express and Cope. There’s no charge to attend the bash either, but bring some cash for food and drinks. Find out more by visiting Skipper’s online.

Take the Kids for Some Hands-On Fun, Learning: The Glazer Children’s Museum’s $5 Dollar Days continue this weekend. Just stop by any day before September ends to enjoy discounted admission in honor of the museum’s third birthday. Find out more on the museum’s website.

Celebrate World Rhino Weekend: Feel like taking a walk on the wild side this weekend? Stop by Lowry Park Zoo for a number of themed events designed to mark the arrival of World Rhino Weekend. The fun runs Sept. 21-22 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check out the zoo’s website for all the details.

Weekend Weather Could Get Shaky: While there’s a low chance for storms Friday and Saturday during the day, the potential for action heats up Saturday night with a 40 percent chance of showers. Thunderstorms are likely on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service, and it appears the same will hold true for the start of the workweek.
