Man Takes Keys from Hotel's Valet Stand, Runs from Security

The incident was reported to the Tampa Police Department.

Over the weekend, authorities say a man stole keys from a valet stand at a hotel and attempted to use the keys to steal a car.

Here's what happened, according an incident report from the Tampa Police Department:

Hotel security at the Renaissance Hotel, 4200 Jim Walters Boulevard in downtown Tampa, spotted a man stealing two sets of keys from a valet stand. Then, the man returned and used the keys to get into a valeted car.

Security stopped the man before he could take the car, but the man ran from security. Officers from TPD arrived and arrested the man, who was hiding in a parking garage nearby. The man resisted arrest and "sustained an abrasion to his forehead."

Because of the injury and "the defendant's intoxication," he was medically cleared at Tampa General Hospital and booked into the Orient Road Jail.
