www.TampaBayFoodTours.com was lucky enough to get a sneak peak and taste of the new brunch menu at http://www.jotoro.com/. I rarely order from a breakfast / brunch menu as it is just not my jam. Jotoro's new brunch menu delivers elevated options that I can get on board with.
A preview event is a food writers dream come true since you get to see and experience a wide variety of items in one visit. Jotoro's new brunch menu is original, creative, colorful and delicious. The twist to add Mexican cuisine staples to try and true brunch dishes really works.
Chef Joe was front and center at the event and his chosen adjective for their new brunch experience is FUN.

And fun it was. With a musical background of a mariachi version of a Queen song Bohemian Rhapsody we are feeling the intended vibe. How do you not have fun when you order one of their over the top specialty cocktails? I know lots of folks who choose a brunch spot based on bloodies. If you know that crowd sign them up to visit rapido.
All of the 5 options of JOTORO BLOODIES are "loaded" with olives, bacon and shrimp. Before you ask that is a tomatilla bloody in the photo below.

The churro French toast is a dish that I think I want to try and make at home. If not for the single non crushed piece of cereal I probably would not be able to share the hack of using Cinnamon Toast Crunch to create a churro like bread as the base.

CHURRO FRENCH TOAST
Thick-sliced brioche prepared “Churro Style” topped with bananas foster sauce, fresh berries, powdered sugar, side of whipped butter
That sounds like a lot of work so forget making it at home. I will just leave the cooking to Jotoro.
Another dish that stood out to us was the grilled shrimp fruit salad. The dish was elevated and vibrant in appearance and flavor profile.

GRILLED SHRIMP & THAI WATERMELON SALAD
Grilled blackened shrimp, charred papaya and watermelon, avocado, cilantro, Thai basil over chopped romaine tossed in Thai-chili lime vinaigrette

CHILAQUILES ROJO & EGGS “HANGOVER STYLE”
Thick cut tortilla chips tossed with classic red chili sauce, topped with two eggs, chili queen beef, avocado, crema, cilantro, radish

MEXICO CITY EGGS BENEDICT
Two poached eggs, Mexican chorizo, toasted English muffin, tequila-lime hollandaise, pico, pickled red onion, radish, cilantro, tajin, side of Mexican home fries

STEAK AND EGGS “CARNE ASADA STYLE”
Two eggs over sliced steak ranchero, avocado, crispy shallots, pico, ranchero sauce, Mexican home fries

CRISPY MAPLE PEPPER BACON

GUACAMOLE TOAST
Thick-sliced sourdough, grilled and topped with house made guacamole, pomegranate reduction and seeds, feta, pickled onions, radish, pico and micro cilantro.
The indoor space is upbeat and lively and they have a nice patio for dining and viewing the crowd at Sparkman wharf. .
