New Movie in the Park Series Kicks Off in Downtown

Screen on the Green will take place every other Friday until August.

A new summer movie series in the park - Screen on the Green - will kick off Friday night in downtown.

The free, outdoor, family event will feature movies that are rated G or PG and will start at dusk (approximately at 8-8:15 p.m.) with short animations from IFF featured before the main film at , 600 N. Ashley Dr.

  • May 25 - Kung Fu Panda 2
  • June 8 - Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • June 22 - Shrek
  • July 6 - Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
  • July 20 - Beetlejuice
  • August 3 - Puss in Boots

Popcorn, candy and food trucks will be available on site. Blankets, low-back chairs and picnic baskets are allowed. Alcohol, glass bottles/containers and umbrellas are prohibited in the park.

IF YOU GO:

What Happens if it rains? Movies will still be screened in light rain. The show will be stopped for safety reasons if there are very strong winds or lightning in the vicinity. Otherwise…the show will go on!

What should I bring? Along with your friends and family, bring blankets, low-back chairs, your own snacks, beverages, and rain gear if the weather is iffy. If you like to toss a ball or Frisbees, bring them. The fountains will be on for children to play in.

Well-behaved dogs are allowed as long as they are kept on a leash, and you are expected to clean up after him. Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park has an off-leash dog park you can also visit with your pet.

What food, beverages and merchandise will be available? will be selling iced and hot coffee products, fruit slushy and pastries, cookies, and other sweets.

The Friends of Tampa Recreation, Inc., a not for profit organization that supports the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department’s programs through fund-raising opportunities, will be selling popcorn, candy, soft drinks and water.

Food trucks will also be onsite.
