HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – Live flies in the bar area, a rusty microwave and a lack of required training are some of the violations that Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found recently in Tampa-area restaurants.
Panini's Bar And Grill, 3973 Van Dyke, Lutz, was cited for 18 violations on June 13, including eight live flies in the bar area; apple juice and bottled water stored on the floor in walk In cooler; and no copy of latest inspection report available.
Ginza, 6417 E. County Line Road, Suite 104, Tampa, was cited for 14 violations on June 13, including cardboard used to line food-contact shelves; in-use knives stored in cracks between pieces of equipment on the cooks' line; and required employee training expired for all employees.

The Cafe, 4200 George J. Bean Parkway, Tampa, was cited for 13 violations on June 12, including hot water shut off at employee handwash sink; microwave oven with rust spots on interior; and cold food held at potentially hazardous high temperatures, including yogurt, diced tomatoes and cream cheese.
Deano's New York Style Pizza, 10865 Cross Creek Blvd., Tampa, was cited for nine violations on June 12, including spray bottle containing toxic substance not labeled; wet mop not stored in a manner to allow the mop to dry; no proof of required training provided to any employees; and manager lacking proof of food manager certification.

In the last 30 days, 97 Hillsborough County restaurants did not pass the first inspection while 212 restaurants aced the first visit. For more details on Hillsborough County restaurant inspections, click here.
The inspectors made note of nine Hillsborough County restaurants that recently passed inspections without any violations, including Smokin Bowls and Dulce Dough Food Truck, both at 2900 S. U.S. Highway 41, Ruskin; Gypsy Sliders, 6529 King Palm Way, Apollo Beach; and Panda Express #3036, 10771 Big Bend Road, Riverview; as well as these five Tampa restaurants: Yah Mon, 301 W. Platt St., Suite C; Lupita's Tacos, 3016 W. Hillsborough Ave.; Taqueria Olmeca, 4112 E. 7th Ave.; Hampton Inn & Suites, 1301 E. 7th Ave.; and Galaxy Dogs, 3224 W. Tampa Bay Blvd.
Most restaurants with violations have corrected the problems and passed subsequent inspections.
