The took place in Ybor City on Saturday, May 26. The event celebrated Tampa's favorite sandwich and the region's rich Latino history and culture.

Up to 40 Florida restaurants participated in the Cuban Sandwich smack-down to find the best Cuban Sandwich in Florida, including restaurants from Hillsborough, Pinellas, Hernando and Broward counties.

Judges named Tampa’s Michelle Faedo's On The Go as the Best Cuban Sandwich in Tampa Bay in the traditional category and Ybor City’s Gaspar's Grotto as the Best Cuban Sandwich in Tampa Bay in the non-traditional category.

Traditional category:

• 1st place - Michelle Faedo's On The Go (Tampa - Hillsborough County)
• 2nd place - The Stone Soup Company (Ybor City - Hillsborough County)
• 3rd place - Cafe Masaryktown (Masaryktown - Hernando County)

Non-traditional category:

• 1st place - Gaspar's Grotto (Ybor City - Hillsborough County)
• 2nd place - Ronni Pastrami's Deli (Pinellas Park - Pinellas County)
• 3rd place - Cuban Guys Restaurant (Hialeah - Miami-Dade County)
