Richard's Father's Day Family Walk/Jog 2016: What To Know Before You Go

Gonzmart Family Foundation raised $85,000 for Moffitt Cancer Center last year.

TAMPA, FL – Fourteen years ago, Columbia Restaurant President Richard Gonzmart combined his love of running with his desire to help find a cure for cancer by creating Richard’s Run for Life.

Through the Gonzmart Family Foundation, 100 percent of the proceeds from the annual event supports cancer research at Moffitt Cancer Center.

In 2014, the Gonzmart Family Foundation added Richard’s Father’s Day Family Walk/Jog to add another opportunity to raise money for Moffitt Cancer Center. Here’s what area residents need to know before they go:

The Third Annual Richard’s Father’s Day Family Walk/Jog is scheduled for Sunday, June 19 at 8 a.m. Event-day sign-in and bib pick-up opens at 7 a.m.

Location

The course begins and ends at Ulele, 1810 N. Highland Ave. in Tampa Heights.

Parking is available via the street parking around Ulele and the fenced lot at Seventh Avenue and Highland Avenue.

Race information

Richard’s Father’s Day Family Walk/Jog is a family-friendly event. Parents are encouraged to bring their children and walk or jog together or use a stroller. Participants can choose the 1-mile route or the 5K route during the event sign-in.

The all-ages entry fee is $30 through June 18 and $35 the morning of the race, which includes a free T-shirt. Children 12 and younger are free, but they must register with a signed waiver the morning of the event with a parent or guardian.

Event Proceeds

One hundred percent of the proceeds from Richard’s Father’s Day Family Walk/Jog will go to support the Advanced Prostate Cancer Collaboration at Moffitt Cancer Center.
