The former Tampa City Councilwoman and restaurateur died on Saturday.

Funeral services for former Tampa City Councilwoman Helen Chavez have been set for later this week.

The outspoken politician and restaurateur died Saturday at the age of 89, according to The Tampa Tribune. Chavez served on the council from 1979 to 1987 and was known for being a forceful advocate for things she believed in. She was also the owner of Chavez at Home, which has since closed, but lives on in a catering service run by her family.

“She was one of the hardest-working women I’ve ever known,” former Tampa Mayor Dick Greco was quoted by the Tampa Bay Times as saying. “She was always doing something.”
