TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a person who may have witnessed a deadly shooting outside a gas station in Tampa April 18.

Around 11 p.m., deputies were called to the 7-Eleven gas station at Memorial Highway and George Road in the Rocky Point area where a verbal altercation between two people led to a deadly shooting.

Deputies discovered a man on the ground on George Road. They performed life-saving measures as they waited for paramedics to arrive. The man was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital Main where he died.

Detectives said the argument broke out between the 20-year-old victim and another man outside the convenience store. Shortly after, the victim returned to his vehicle and drove out of the parking lot onto George Road. The other man followed the victim's vehicle and pulled up next to it, firing multiple shots into the vehicle.

Surveillance video shows a Hispanic man driving a white Mini Cooper who came in contact with the victim outside the gas station before entering the convenience store to make a purchase. That man is now considered a person of interest in this investigation.

He was driving a 2007-14 two-door Mini Cooper Clubman and may have witnessed the shooting. The Mini Cooper appears to be white with a black hard-top roof.
