TGH and Kindred Gather to “Top Out” New Rehabilitation Hospital
Leaders and physicians from TGH and Kindred Healthcare, LLC gathered Thursday, June 3 to celebrate the “topping out” of a new freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital located in the medical district of downtown Tampa. Topping out is a significant milestone and long-held tradition that takes place when the last beam in placed on top of a building under construction. A beam was signed by physicians, leaders and team members from TGH, Kindred and JE Dunn Construction and then hoisted into place.
As a joint venture between TGH and Kindred, the new rehabilitation hospital will be a premier facility in the Tampa region. The 59-bed facility will focus on reducing disability and creating the best opportunities for adults recovering from stroke, neurological disease, brain or spinal cord injuries and other debilitating illnesses and injuries. The latest in advancements and innovations are intended to support patients in their return to independent living. The new rehabilitation hospital is expected to begin serving patients in April 2022.
