Stores With Senior Shopping Hours During Coronavirus Pandemic

TAMPA BAY, FL — While Florida Surgeon General Scott Rivkees has told anyone over the age of 65 and anyone with an underlying medical condition to stay home, sometimes going out for supplies is a necessity.

To protect seniors and residents at risk, most grocery stores are offering designated hours to allow them to shop.

• Albertsons—Stores are open from 7 to 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for seniors and at-risk customers to shop.
• Aldi—Stores nationwide will open at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and reserve the first hour of business for vulnerable shoppers (senior citizens, expectant mothers and those with underlying health concerns).
• Big Lots—The first hour of each day will be open for senior citizens and vulnerable shoppers.
• BI-LO—Stores and pharmacies will dedicate the hours of 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday to seniors and those most at risk.
• Costco—The national wholesale club will open its doors to members 60 years old and up every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
• Dollar General—Senior shoppers will get access to all stores one hour before it opens to the general public.
• Fresco y Más—Seniors and high-risk customers are invited to shop weekdays from 8 to 9 a.m.
• Fresh Market—Seniors and at-risk residents will get special shopping hours from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday.
• Publix—Stores open to anyone ages 65 and older on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7 to 8 a.m.
• Target—Stores nationwide will devote the first hour of shopping on Wednesday mornings for seniors and at-risk shoppers.
• Walmart—Through April 28, the national discount retailer will offer an hour-long senior shopping event every Tuesday for customers age 60 and older, including pharmacies and vision centers.
• Whole Foods—Stores will open one hour early for shoppers age 60 and older.
• Winn-Dixie—Seniors and high-risk customers are invited to shop weekdays from 8 to 9 a.m.
