Survey Ranks Top Super Bowl Eats In Florida, Kansas City
DoorDash unveiled its first-ever Game Day Eats Report, detailing top food trends during the 2020-21 NFL season.
TAMPA, FL — With the biggest American football game of the year just days away, DoorDash is revealing its first-ever Game Day Eats Report, detailing top food trends during the 2020-21 NFL season and offering an inside look at the American “homegate” this past year - including the season's most-ordered game day food - and hint, hint - it’s not Buffalo wings.
Leveraging order data on football Sundays from Sept. 13 to Jan. 10, DoorDash’s Game Day Eats report found:
- Forget the wings, Bring on the fried cheese: Surpassing the traditional snack of football Sundays, mozzarella sticks come in as the most-ordered game-night dish across the country. Boneless wings take second place, followed by chips and salsa, Caesar salads and pepperoni pizza.
- Victory may be sweet, but dessert makes it even sweeter: As Americans braced themselves for their team's hopeful victory during Wildcard Weekend this year, there was a spike in dessert items ordered compared to Wildcard Weekend 2020. Top desserts on the rise for game days include churros (464 percent increase), brownies (405 percent increase), banana pudding (307 percent increase), flan (252 percent increase) and chocolate chip cookies (241 percent increase).
Additional game day findings from a national general population survey* of 1,000 Americans:
