Tampa Bay Boulevard Closed By Raymond James Stadium

The temporary closure is scheduled to end after the 2016-17 College Football National Championship Game.

TAMPA, FL – A portion of West Tampa Bay Boulevard that sits due south of Raymond James Stadium has closed in preparation for the 2016-17 College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

The temporary closure, from North Dale Mabry Highway to North Himes Avenue, began Tuesday, Jan. 3 and is expected to remain in place until after the game on Monday, Jan. 9. The City of Tampa anticipates Tampa Bay Boulevard will reopen to traffic by 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion:

  • Motorists heading west on Tampa Bay Boulevard are advised to turn either north or south onto Himes Avenue. Drivers who go north can take a left onto West Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, then left onto Dale Mabry Highway, then right back onto Tampa Bay Boulevard. Drivers who head south can take a right onto West Columbus Drive, then right onto Dale Mabry, then left back onto Tampa Bay Boulevard.
  • Motorists heading east on Tampa Bay Boulevard are advised to turn either north or south onto Dale Mabry. Drivers who go north can take a right onto Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, then right onto Dale Mabry, then left back onto Tampa Bay Boulevard. Drivers who head south can take a left onto Columbus Drive, then left onto Himes Avenue, then right back onto Tampa Bay Boulevard.
