Tampa General Hospital CEO Recognized Among the Best by National Health Industry Publication

Ronald A. Hytoff, president and CEO of , was named to the Becker’s Hospital Review “100 Non-profit Hospital, Health System CEOs to Know,” based on their experience, awards, and community involvement.

The national health industry publication noted that the “presidents and CEOs listed here head non-profit hospitals and health systems across the country that have been recognized for superior clinical, financial and operational performance.”

Hytoff started at Tampa General as the chief operating officer in May 1997, and has served as president and CEO since 2000. During his tenure as CEO, the hospital has grown from 887-beds with annual net revenues of about $350 million to 1,018-beds with annual net revenues of about $1.2 billion.

He had previously served as president and CEO of the University of Louisville Hospital in Kentucky, executive director and CEO of The Wellington Private Hospital in London, England, and executive director of Humana Hospital in Lexington, KY.

In addition to being the region’s only level 1 trauma center and comprehensive burn center, Tampa General also has a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit and is the nation’s fourth busiest solid organ transplant center. TGH is also one of 16 comprehensive stroke centers in Florida and is a state-certified spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation center. Tampa General is the primary teaching hospital for the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine.

U.S. News &World Report in 2011-2012 ranked TGH as one of the country’s Top 50 hospitals in seven medical specialties: Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Geriatrics, Nephrology, Orthopedics, and Urology. And for the last six years, the hospital has earned the national Consumer Choice Award, given to the hospital that Tampa Bay healthcare consumers considered had the highest quality of medical care and the best image.
