Tampa Homestyles’ Jaime Brown’s Unique Brokering Approach
The founder of Tampa Homestyles has become a beacon of inspiration for female, minority business owners as they navigate "the new normal."

Jaime Brown is no stranger to challenges. In fact, her academic background in decision management and efficiency has made her an expert in finding solutions to imperfect situations. Through years spent in the corporate world identifying and optimizing areas of improvement, all while juggling the demands of raising a growing family, the crucial skill has become second nature to the Tampa-based mother of two. Given her levels of hands-on problem-solving experience, it is unsurprising that Brown’s luxury brokerage agency, Tampa Homestyles, is achieving unprecedented success, even more so during this tumultuous time.
In 2008, when Brown was searching for a new home for her family, she recognized some possibilities for improvement throughout the process.
“There were many “status-quo” aspects that added steps but not value to the process. When you have a background in process efficiency, it’s hard for that not to spill over into other areas, so I guess that created the desire to create a higher quality experience for both sellers and buyers,” Brown recently told Authority Magazine. “I had been telling businesses how to improve their processes for years, so it was time to do it for myself,” she explains.

It was then that Brown and her husband began working to develop a new system through a virtual, boutique-style client service model. Brown was determined to streamline the home-buying process by building mutual trust through transparency, risk assessment, and well-measured market metrics. Tampa Homestyles was founded with these crucial qualities in mind. The unique venture has been disrupting the brokering industry ever since – but once the pandemic hit, the value behind Brown’s system became incredibly relevant.
As women in business, the pressure to balance home responsibilities with professional ambitions already weighs heavily – especially on working mothers. The uncertainty surrounding COVID-19has amplified these struggles, forcing many women to compromise their careers in an effort to better guard their families against the impact of the pandemic.

“My best advice to female business owners is to never back down from your vision,” Brown says. Brown further adapted her business to accommodate both her family and her clientele’s changing needs.
“With our virtual model, Tampa Homestyles was the perfect solution to the socially distanced circumstances surrounding the pandemic, allowing me to keep my family safe as well,” she continues. “I did not want to let that opportunity go to waste, and because of that, our model has helped capitalize on improved sales volume even amidst COVID-19.”
For Brown, trusting her instincts – while not as measurable as the data metrics she knows so well – has paid off. Through the success of her modernized business model, she has accomplished major sales and even broken some records.
Brown recently gained well-deserved recognition after she facilitated the monumental sale of a gorgeous 7,600 square-foot waterfront home in South Tampa. The $6.4 million deal set a new precedent with the highest price ever paid for a speculative home in Tampa. The transaction, which came at a time when the industry was unsure of its forecast, gave Tampa Bay realtors hope that the pandemic might have a positive impact on the local market.
“I’m proud to have been a part of this record-breaking sale and hope it can inspire other moms and business owners to persevere through this challenging time,” Brown says regarding the accomplishment.
Brown’s groundbreaking sale was an early indicator of the luxury real estate boom that coastal Florida is now experiencing. Modern construction is in high demand in the Tampa area, and investors are well aware. The price point is also rising along with the market – with the number of homes valued over $1 million increasing by nine percent in the last year alone.
Brown correlates the emerging trends with an influx of out-of-state buyers who find that Tampa is an idyllic fit for their needs. A lot of professionals are now working remotely, removing any previous limitations of distance or location. The majority of buyers are coming from North-Eastern states, like New York and New Jersey. Many are looking to trade overcrowded metropolitan areas for spacious homesteads that make social distancing more comfortable. With a decade of experience, Brown knows the area well. She says that she genuinely enjoys showing newcomers around because she believes that Tampa has the perfect neighborhood to match every lifestyle.
