TAMPA, FL — One Tampa man made Memorial Day a lot more memorable after winning a $1 million Florida Lottery scratch-off game.

John Carter, 45, won the $1 million prize from The Fastest Road to $1,000,000 scratch-off game. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $790,000.

The ticket was purchased at Southside Shell, 3602 W. Gandy Blvd. in Tampa. The store received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the ticket.

The $30 game, The Fastest Road to $1,000,000, launched in February 2020. It features 155 top prizes of $1 million and more than $948 million in cash prizes. The game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-2.79.
