​Tampa Mayor Appoints Longtime Employee To Manage City Facilities

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Mayor Jane Castor has named Adriana"Adri" Colina the city's new director of logistics and asset management.

Colina, a 32-year employee, is now responsible for 6.5 million square feet of city-owned facilities in addition to a fleet of more than 3,300 vehicles.

She replaced Pete Brett who retired after nine years of service to the city of Tampa.

Colina's promotion comes at a pivotal time as the city begins a proposed $59 million development project that brings eight separate facilities under one roof to better serve the Tampa community.

She will oversee all aspects of the new 150,000-square-foot Hanna Municipal Office Building from project pre-development to the relocation more than 500 city employees.

"Bringing City Hall to the community is one of my top priorities," said Mayor Jane Castor. "This new municipal building will not only provide residents easier access to the services they pay for, it also serves as a catalyst for economic development and neighborhood revitalization that is long overdue in East Tampa. Adri's reputation as a transformational leader with extensive management experience makes her uniquely qualified to lead a project of this scope that directly impacts our employees and community stakeholders."

In addition to the Hanna project, Colina is also in charge of overseeing 514 city facilities including all city buildings, parking garages and recreation centers and fleet acquisitions and improvements along with the day-to-day operations of both the Facility Management and Fleet Management divisions.

She previously spent five years as the chief of administration for the city's Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management Department where she managed a $148 million budget and critical areas such as the city's recycling and environmental programs and the McKay Bay Scale House.

Colina also oversaw more than $25 million in contracts for the department along with managing its assets and facilities, billing, customer service, public relations and several other day-to-day functions.

She served as a co-commander in the Emergency Operations Center during emergencies as well.

The third-generation Tampa native's leadership experience includes human resource management, communications, public relations and finance.

Colina created, hosted and produced "Que Pasa Tampa?," which aired on the city of Tampa Television's (CTTV) to engage Spanish-speaking residents.

In 2018, she was named Tampa's Hispanic Woman of the Year, a prestigious lifetime achievement award by Tampa Hispanic Heritage Inc. The award recognizes individuals who have excelled in their endeavors to advance, promote, maintain and enhance Tampa's Hispanic heritage.

She is a two-term chairwoman of the Mayor's Hispanic Heritage Committee and has raised funds toward scholarship endowments at the University of South Florida and Hillsborough Community College for Latino students.

In 1989, she started her career with the city of Tampa in a clerical position while furthering her education. She earned an associate's degree from Hillsborough Community College and went on to receive her bachelor's in human resource management from St. Leo University where she graduated with honors.
