Here are the top stories today in Tampa:
- 1. City of Tampa Mayor Jane Castor is planning changes to the process of selecting a new police chief after the most recent chief became consumed in a scandal that ended with her resignation and nationwide coverage into abuse of power. Mayor Castor met with WFLA to discuss changes planned including more community involvement in the process. (WFLA)
- 2. Seaglass Tavern has opened in Citrus Park located at 11935 Sheldon Road with a vairety of delicious seafood options to choose from. Their seafood pasta is a favorite and includes shrimp, scallops, calamari, mussels and clams, tossed in a homemade spinach de fettuccini and creamy roasted poblano pepper sauce. (Tampa Patch)
- 3. Tampa's first drive-thru Chipotle has opened at 8301 North Dale Mabry Highway. There is a pick-up window for those who still want to come and grab an order through their website or app. The next planned locations are in Zephyrhills, Odessa and Ellenton. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
- 4. Tampa General Hospital (TGH), one of the top leading hospitals in the region, announced Tuesday that its Cancer Institute earned a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a quality program established by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). TGH's Cancer Institute is now recognized for meeting 34 quality care standards. (Press Release Desk)
- 5. Tampa's very own Cigar City Brewing is ranked no. 9 in a recent list of best breweries in Florida by Thrillist.
