Tampa Police Mourn Death Of Retired Police Captain
Retired Capt. Mike Flynn died Friday at the age of 58.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa police are mourning the death of a longtime police captain who retired in January 2020.
Capt. Mike Flynn began his career with the Tampa Police Department in 1994. He and his wife, former police Maj. Yvette Flynn, retired on the same day.
He died Friday at the age of 58.

"Mike led a life dedicated to the service of others," said Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan."My heart goes out to Yvette and the entire Flynn family. I ask everyone in our community, as well as the community of Fort Pierce, to keep the Flynns in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this time of grief".
After leaving the Tampa police, Flynn continued his life of public service, serving as a major with the Fort Pierce Police Department.

A funeral service will take place on Friday, March 19 at 10 a.m. at Bay Hope Christian Church, 17030 Lakeshore Road, Lutz. The service is open to the public but will be live-streamed for those who are unable to attend.
Following the service, a law enforcement procession will escort Flynn's coffin to Tampa Garden of Memories at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Ave, in Tampa.
