Police are investigating a hit-and-run that injured two men at S. Dale Mabry and W. San Carlos Street.
Here's what happened, according to the Tampa Police Department:
Two men from Stripe-A-Lot Paving, a subcontractor of the City of Tampa, were striping the crosswalk earlier this morning with a white paint machine at the intersection. Someone driving southbound on South Dale Mabry in a four-dour silver Mitsubishi was approaching the intersection in the curb lane.
The vehicle left the road, drove over a curb and hit the workers and the paint machine. The driver, who never stopped, continued heading southbound on the roadway.
A third worker who witnessed the incident chased after the Mitsubishi in his work truck as the driver headed south on Dale Mabry and west on Palmira Avenue.
The worker soon lost sight of the vehicle, but got a partial tag of the car. Police and Tampa Fire rescue responded.
Injured were Michael Madson, 48, of Largo, who had bumps and bruises, and Craig Walls, of LaSalle, Illinois. Madson was taken to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries. Walls was treated at the scene and released.
The driver is identified as a Hispanic man with dark hair and a small statue.
