Veterans To Meet With Potential Employers At 2 Upcoming Job Fairs

Disabled American Veterans and the MacDill Air Force Base Military & Family Readiness Center will host job fairs Thursday and Friday.

TAMPA, FL ? Hundreds of military veterans seeking job opportunities will have the chance to meet with prospective employers at a job fair on Thursday, Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tampa Convention Center.

Co-sponsored by the organizations, Disabled American Veterans and RecruitMilitary, the job fair will offer veterans, military spouses, as well as active-duty service members who are considering retirement, a chance to connect with companies that are ready to hire.

More than 200 local veterans are registered to attend the free event.

?We are eager to support our military veterans any way we can and helping them find careers where their skills will be a valuable asset is crucial for long-term job security and personal fulfillment,? said Tampa Mayor Jane Castor. ?The Tampa Convention Center offers the perfect setting for this exciting event and we expect many veterans to leave with lasting connections.?

A total of 49 employers, ranging from all industries, including supply-chain, logistics, finance, security and local law enforcement, will have recruiters on hand to answer questions, share information and even do on-the-spot interviews.

?Our mission is to empower veterans with career opportunities and the return of our face-to-face events allows us to serve our community of 1.5 million jobseekers in the most effective way possible,? said RecruitMilitary CEO Tim Best, a former Army Special Operations attack helicopter pilot. ?While our virtual events provided a way for us to connect with our job candidates and employers throughout 2020, we?re ready to turn the page and bring veterans and employers together in person for meaningful career opportunities.?

For those who can't make Thursday's event at the Tampa Convention Center, CareerSource Tampa Bay and the MacDill Air Force Base Military & Family Readiness Center will host a virtual hiring event for Hillsborough County veterans and military families Friday, Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

?This is a great opportunity for transitioning service members and military spouses as well as military dependents to speak to employers about the employment opportunity available,? said Doug Earle, veteran and military family representative with CSTB. ?I am excited CSTB is able to partner with MacDill M&FRC to offer additional employment resources.?
