TAMPA, FL — A boxer mix named Bojack has been reunited with his family after escaping his home and making his way onto Interstate 275 where he was rescued with the help of Tampa Mayor Janet Castor.

Castor happened to be driving on I-275 when she noticed the traffic slowing down and spotted the boxer mix running in the northbound lanes. Castor was joined by other good Samaritans who tried to save the dog while avoiding a pileup in the process.

Eventually, Tampa Police Officer Kasie Hatfield arrived and used her training as a former animal control officer to get the four-pawed escapee into her patrol car. Bojack was unharmed and taken to the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center where his owners were delighted to find him safe and sound.
