TAMPA, FL -- A senior cat is recovering at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay today after being dumped on the side of Interstate 4 where he sat in terror for three days awaiting help.
The Humane Society was contacted by a Department of Transportation worker who told them the cat had been sitting in the same spot on Interstate 4 just past Exit 22 for several days.
Humane Society staff said the cat, later named Vincent, was too frightened to move. He was sitting on a drainage grate surrounded by his own feces and trash.

As if sensing the society was there to help, Vincent didn't fuss when a rescue team member picked him up in a net and took him back the society's truck to be transported for medical treatment.
The staff discovered that Vincent's claws were worn off and his paw pads were bloodied and covered with abrasions due to clinging to the grate for those three days.

The Humane Society staff said the gray cat is about 12 years old. He is very friendly and loving despite the treatment he received, and is ready to be adopted.
