Wrong Number Lands High Schoolers FaceTime With Tom Brady, Gronk

When a Michigan high school basketball team added a wrong number to a text chain, they ended up in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers locker room.

Former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was among the Tampa Bay Buccaneers players who appeared on a FaceTime call with Michigan high school basketball players due to the insertion of a wrong number in a group chat.

TAMPA, FLA ? What started innocently enough as a rounding up of phone numbers on a group text ended with a high school basketball team in Michigan getting surprise time with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and Super Bowl champion Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Brady was one of several Bucs jump on a FaceTime call with members of the Notre Dame Preparatory (Mich.)freshman boys basketball team. The social media madness began when one of the players accidentally inserted an ?8? rather than a ?7? in a phone number of what was to be a group text among teammates.

But with the wrongly inserted digit, the high schoolers unintentionally added Buccaneers cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting, whose phone number is just one number different than that of Notre Dame Prep center Luca Gasperoni, according to a feature story by the Athletic.

The entire ordeal was chronicled on the Twitter feed of P. Jason Whalen, a school counselor whose son plays on the freshman team. According to Whalen, Murphy-Bunting asked if the boys meant to add his number to the text chain. They did, they replied, if ?this is Luca.?

It wasn?t. But Murphy-Bunting, who asked the players if they knew they had called, went along with the misdialed number and included a selfie of himself in the Bucs? locker room before adding his teammates onto the call.

?Of course, they think it?s their teammate messing with them,? Whalen wrote on Twitter.

He added: ?Some of the boys still think it?s their buddy joking around (and) others are like WTH is going on?all I hear is my son laughing his (butt) off, in total disbelief at what is going on.?

By the time the call ended, Murphy-Bunting got the high school players FaceTime with Gronkowski, wide receiver Mike Evans and defensive back Richard Sherman and running back Leonard Fournette. According to the Athletic, Fournette, FaceTimed with the boys for 10 minutes while Brady was finishing up a meeting.

Of course, once the boys were inside the Bucs? locker room, they were willing to wait for what happened next.

?Naturally, the boys are getting greedy now and besides asking the guys to have big weeks for their fantasy football team, they want to see the GOAT,? Whalen wrote.

Fournette mentions he will keep the boys on the call while waiting for Brady ? who led the Bucs to a Super Bowl title in his first year in Tampa after winning six titles with the Patriots ?which, according to Whalen, had the high schoolers losing it.

Then it happened: Brady, wearing an orange practice jersey and basketball cap, appears on the phone, flashes a peace sign and says, ?What?s up fellas??

?The boys lose their minds?.,? Whalen wrote on Twitter.

After Brady?s appearance, Murphy-Bunting told the team to ?ball out? during the upcoming season before the players swore not to allow the NFL player?s number out.

?What an awesome experience for our boys,? Whalen wrote. ?and what an awesome amazing group of guys on the Bucs.?

All over a wrong number.
