Living Small: Festival To Showcase Tiny Homes, Skoolies, Vans

Tiny homes will be the focus of a big event taking place this weekend in St. Petersburg.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- Tiny homes will be the focus of a big event taking place this weekend in St. Petersburg.

The second annual St. Pete Tiny Home Festival is scheduled for Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24 at the SPC Allstate Center, 3200 34th St.. S., St. Petersburg.

More than 5,000 people are expected at this second event throughout the weekend, many traveling from throughout the state and even across the country.

Admission includes full access to the festival grounds, where guests will get to explore the more than 20 Tiny Homes and speak directly with the homeowners and builders. Also on display will be skoolies (converted school buses) and converted vans.

Admission also includes access to SPC’s ballroom, which will feature presentations about zoning and building regulations, de-cluttering your home, living green and more.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The festival, organized by LocalShops1, showcases the latest in tiny home living trends. In addition to the tiny structures, the festival will feature more than two dozen leading experts in the Tiny House movement.

The event will also showcase local food trucks, mobile boutiques, artists and home-related businesses, plus free activities for children.

Tiny houses are homes typically sized under 500 square feet, and sometimes as small as 100 square feet, and can be on wheels for mobility or built on a foundation. Tiny Houses are becoming more and more popular throughout the nation, thanks to their reduced cost and reduced carbon footprint.
