TAMPA, FL — The caretakers at Busch Gardens Tampa are mourning the death of a 13-year-old Bengal tiger who came to the theme park with her brother, Bhutan, as a cub in 2007.

Bala died Tuesday after an interaction with Bhutan turned rough. Bala sustained fatal wounds. She was taken to the park's Animal Care Center for emergency care. Veterinarians determined her wounds were too great for her to recover from, and she was humanely euthanized.

"Known for her unique coloring, Bala was loved by her care team and the guests who visited Jungala," Busch Gardens said in a statement. "She will be dearly missed."
