City Helps Residents Stay Informed During Emergencies

TEMPLE TERRACE, FL — The City of Temple Terrace is now working with Everbridge, a leader in unified critical communications, to keep residents, businesses, staff and emergency personnel safe and informed with quick and reliable emergency notifications.

The City of Temple Terrace will use Alert Temple Terrace to communicate with residents and businesses during emergencies and other critical events. Residents and businesses are encouraged to register to receive these alerts. Those who previously signed up for emergency notifications using the legacy Rapid Notify Emergency System are requested to switch to Alert Temple Terrace. This is the link to the opt-in website for both Rapid Notify and new subscribers.

The Emergency Notification System (ENS) will provide a variety of alerts, ranging from missing children, critical police and fire threats and severe weather warnings. Messages will be sent to subscribers on their preferred contact paths email, cell/home phone, SMS (text), Push Notification, TTY/TDD and more to ensure real-time access to potentially lifesaving information.

Residents and businesses listed in the City of Temple Terrace 911 database will be automatically subscribed to alerts by landline phone. Everbridge also allows citizens and businesses to self-register, provide additional contact information or to opt-out.

"We have a commitment to ensure public safety, community awareness and emergency response. To uphold this, when critical information and public service announcements are available, we need to reach our residents as quickly and reliably as possible," said Sheryl Shingleton, services division commander. "The Everbridge Emergency Notification system allows the City ofTemple Terrace to disseminate this information across all types of devices, ensuring that real-time alerts are received when needed most."
