The Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Libraries are working on creating a video history of local residents who participated in the historic 1963 March on Washington. From now through Aug. 16, county library staff will be available to digitally record the memories of any Hillsborough County resident who was present for the historic event.
The video histories will then be featured along with an afternoon of freedom songs at the West Tampa Branch Library on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 2:30 p.m.
The March on Washington, which took place on Aug. 28, 1963, was highlighted by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s I Have a Dream speech, and still remains one of the largest political rallies for human rights in United States history.
