Fire Department To Demonstrate New Extrication Equipment

A grant from Firehouse Subs helped purchase extrication equipment for the Temple Terrace Fire Department.

From Temple Terrace FD: The Temple Terrace Fire Department has new state-of-the-art extrication equipment, courtesy of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The Hurst battery-operated spreader, cutter, ram and accessories, valued at nearly $27,000, will assist Temple Terrace firefighters with vehicle extrications and other technical rescues. The public is invited to attend an official presentation and demonstration of the equipment on Thursday, February 21 at 3pm at Firehouse Subs, #3, 2710 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa.

"This equipment will assist our firefighters in the rapid and safe rescue of victims of automobile accidents and other emergencies, providing lifesaving aid to those in need," said Temple Terrace Fire Chief Ian Kemp. "We are grateful to the Foundation for making it possible for our department to purchase this much needed asset."Firehouse Subs franchise owner Tracey Johnson was recognized at the Temple Terrace City Council meeting on February 5 for her continued support of local first responders. Johnson will be at the presentation along with Chief Kemp, Assistant Chief Shane Samon, Division Chief Scott Murley, Training Officer/Captain Joe Cable and representatives from Municipal Emergency Services, the company that provided the equipment.In 2005, the Firehouse Subs founders established the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, lifesaving equipment, and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations.

Through the non-profit 501(c)(3), Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has granted more than $40 million to hometown heroes in 48 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, including more than $6.2 million in Florida.
