Johnson & Johnson Bringing 500 Jobs to Tampa Bay

International healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson is coming to Tampa Bay and it’s bringing an estimated 500 jobs and $23.5 million with it.

The New Jersey-based company plans to open up shop at the six-story Hidden River Corporate Center One, near Fletcher Avenue and Interstate 75. The decision to bring the shared services headquarters to Tampa was announced Thursday by Gov. Rick Scott’s office.

Local and state government officials created a large taxpayer-funded incentive package to help bring the company to town. Back in March, the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County put together a combined local incentive package of $1.5 million. That’s on top of the near $5 million in incentives the state offered.

Incentives aside, Johnson & Johnson intends to make a capital investment of about $23.5 million over the next three years in addition to creating 500 jobs for the region, the governor’s office announced.

“We currently have a strong presence in Florida and this new site will continue to build on the successes that our businesses have already achieved across the state,” Erin Champlin, Vice President, Johnson & Johnson Global Services, was quoted by the governor’s office as saying. “We look forward to increasing our presence in the state and within the Tampa community.”

Jobs available at the new headquarters, which is expected to be fully operational by mid-2016, are expected to include human resources, procurement, finance and information technology, among others, the state reported.
