Man Reported Missing Killed While Walking Down U.S. 301
Distraught after being involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident, a 24-year-old Dade City woman has been Baker Acted by Zephyrhills Police.

TEMPLE TERRACE, FL -- Distraught after being involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident, a 24-year-old Dade City woman has been Baker Acted by Zephyrhills Police.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Kelsey Lane Scheg has admitted to hitting and killing 73-year-old Gary Edward Gogolowski of Brooksville with her Honda as he was walking down U.S. 301 near Raulerson Ranch Road Friday night.
Gogolowski had been reported missing earlier on Jan. 19 by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. At about 11:30 p.m., he was driving his 2013 GMC pickup truck north on U.S. 301 when his truck became disabled. He pulled over to the east shoulder of the road, got out of the truck and started walking south on U.S. 301 when he was struck by the Honda driven by Scheg who was heading south on U.S. 301.

Schleg, who had two passengers in the car, left the scene. About a half an hour later, Zephyhills Police were called to her parents' home on Alpha Avenue in Zephyhills for a disturbance. Police say she confessed to the hit-and-run accident when they arrived.
Zephyrhills Police notified the Florida Highway Patrol, which went to the scene and found Gogolowski dead.

Troopers interviewed Schleg and both passengers. They said Schleg was under the influence of drugs and alcohol when the accident occurred. Charges are pending.
