Student's Excitement At Acceptance To West Point Goes Viral
The video showing King High School senior Reagan Overton being accepted to West Point has more than 1.3 million views.
TEMPLE TERRACE, FL — A video posted by Hillsborough County Schools showing a student as she learns she's just been accepted to the West Point Military Academy has gone viral.
The emotional video of King High School senior Reagan Overton receiving her acceptance to West Point posted on Youtube and Facebook by the school district has received more than 1.3 million views.
The overwhelming response prompted the school district to post a follow-up video describing the special bond Overton has developed with the staff of King High School's Guidance Department over the past four years.

"It's been my dream since sixth grade to get in so it's amazing," said Overton.
"This is my first student to get accepted into West Point," said guidance counselor Tracy Thompson, who joined Overton's screams of excitement in the video. "We were so excited to the point that we forgot there was some testing going on down the hall."

"My guidance department was there every step of the way," said Overton. "They've been there for me through everything."
"That's the fun part," said success coach Bianca Stone, referring to the celebration captured on video. "It kind of makes all of this worth it. These are the moments that keep us going."
"Everything I've done has been building up to this," said Overton. "It's just a rush of emotion. I don't think I've been much prouder than this."
In addition to receiving her acceptance to West Point, Overton just learned she will be valedictorian of her 2020 graduating class.
