Temple Terrace Fire Department Hosts Statewide Competition

The Advanced Life Support Competition will be held November 7-8.

TEMPLE TERRACE, FL. – Temple Terrace Professional Firefighters (Local 3582) have partnered with the city to host an Advanced Life Support Competition on November 7-8, 2016, drawing firefighters and paramedics from throughout Florida.

Firefighters and paramedics will compete in various fire-rescue scenarios starting around 9 a.m. on Monday, November 7 and resuming the morning of Tuesday, November 8. The competitions will take place at venues in and around the City of Temple Terrace.

Fourteen fire departments from throughout the state, representing more than 50 fire professionals, will be competing. Temple Terrace Fire Capt. Carl Sullivan said this year’s competition will focus on intense medical scenarios designed to be a realistic as possible. Fire-rescue personnel will be graded on how well they respond and perform under pressure.

The three top-rated departments will compete in the finals on Tuesday afternoon. Winners will be announced immediately following the finals. The winning team will receive trophies, prizes – and statewide bragging rights.

The Temple Terrace Fire Department has performed well in ALS competitions, but will not be eligible to participate in this event because it is hosting the activities, fire officials said.

Sponsors of this event include StatPacks, Ten-8 Fire, Wal-Mart, Caspers Co., Anclote Fire Supply and Firehouse Subs.
