Temple Terrace Names New Fire Chief
Ian Kemp will take over duties for Keith Chapman.
TEMPLE TERRACE, FL —Temple Terrace's brand new fire chief is no stranger to the agency. The city announced that Ian Kemp, assistant fire chief for the past nine years, has been promoted to the post.
The announcement of Kemp’s promotion was made Thursday. The 52-year-old replaces outgoing Chief Keith Chapman, who announced his decision to take a job in the private sector earlier this year.
Kemp’s appointment to the department’s top spot is effective immediately, City Manager Charles Stephenson said in a statement.

“It is a true honor and privilege to step into the position of fire chief and lead the Temple Terrace Fire Department,” Kemp said of Thursday’s announcement. “I look forward to continuing to build upon the successful foundation that has been laid before me, and maintaining our status as a progressive, well-trained fire department.”
The city’s fire department is internationally accredited by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International and has earned a coveted Class I Fire Suppression Rating. Insurance companies often consider this status when setting property fire insurance rates. Records show that fewer than 1 percent of fire agencies in the country hold both international accreditation and an ISO Class I rating.
