USF Ranks 2nd Best for Veterans, Study Finds

The MilitaryTimes has released its rankings in time for Veterans Day 2015.

Military veterans looking for the best four-year colleges to attend may find the University of South Florida is one of the best at meeting their unique needs.

That’s according to the MilitaryTimes, which released its 2016 rankings of the best schools for veterans on Monday. USF ranked second overall on the list, which includes colleges and universities from all over the country.

To arrive at its rankings, MilitaryTimes looked at data from the Veterans Affairs Department, Department of Defense and the results of a lengthy survey used to evaluate schools. Factors considered in rankings included “everything from veteran-related policies to average salaries after graduation,” the Times’ website stated.

Other Florida schools ranked on the 4-year college list include”

  • St. Petersburg College, No. 19
  • Florida State University, No. 24
  • Florida Atlantic University, No. 96
  • Pensacola State College, No. 109

According to MilitaryTimes’ rankings, USF had a total enrollment of 48,373 students in 2014. Of those students, 1,008 were considered military. The school scored points for having a veterans office, its veteran-related policies, its Yellow Ribbon standing, staff support made available, its extracurricular activities and more.
